The topic submitted for discussion of the session participants was the project of Federal law “On security of critical informational infrastructure of the Russian Federation” that was adopted on first reading on 27 January and addresses the protection of information systems of state agencies and automated control systems from computer attacks.
In order to take into consideration the views of sector experts and to finalize the provisions of the document in cooperation with them, the creation of an expert group on the basis of the Platform was proposed. As the deputies noted, the current amendments to the draft law were mostly of technical nature. They do not reflect important problems concerning modern challenges and the achievement of a balance between digital economy and security.
As the Presidential adviser German Klimenko told, the draft law on security of critical informational infrastructure is indeed of crucial importance, as shown by the recent events with virus attacks.
“A huge responsibility in this regard lies with the state monitoring. In doing so, our mission is not to upset the standing of companies, but, on the contrary, to contribute to their development. At the moment our sector of digital economy is at a decent level in the world. It is also necessary to regulate not only domestic companies, but also to monitor the foreign ones. That is why we support this draft law”, German Klimenko said.
