The IT infrastructure of the clinic “Medicine” involves a medical information system “Smart Medicine”, digital archives with the results of medical examinations, a prescription surveillance system and a data processing center projected to comply with the highest failsafe performance requirements. The IT director of the clinic Maxim Petukhov demonstrated to the guests the work of a digital medical record.
The guests also visited the departments for family medicine, radionuclide diagnostics, and radiological therapy, the multipurpose in-patient facility and the DPC and familiarized themselves with the features of the clinic’s “smart wards”.
“I am always interested in IT technologies and their application in different spheres of our life. Medicine must be modernized on a continuous basis. I am very amazed and glad that in Russia there is a clinic with such a fundamental approach to this process. A clinic having its own IT infrastructure is a great achievement for the Russian healthcare system in general and for medical services market in particular and for IT industry too,” German Klimenko noted.
“All the IT technologies implemented at the clinic in recent years enable a significant improvement in the quality of medical care. For example, the service for medicinal prescription surveillance enables a real-time review of the drug interactions, the overlap, the right dose calculation, considers the counterindications. According to the results of a commission inspection of service work quality, a reduction of the number of errors in drug therapy prescriptions from 8,1 to 1, 9 percent was recorded,” Maxim Petukhov commented on the service effectiveness.
German Klimenko emphasized that the clinic occupying an area of almost 35 thousand square meters, is supplied with the most innovative equipment, including spot radiation therapy devices, unique for the country. The staff is manned by highly skilled radiologists; competently developed processes make it possible to treat up to 2500 patients a day.
“The medicine is modernized, the doctors enhance their competency, and they inspire proud feelings. I wish everybody in the country would be like them. Unfortunately, this will be a long journey. But it is quite realistic to combine the experience of our industry in IT with the knowledge of doctors, which would enable high-quality diagnostics in regions,” German Klimenko summarized.
