A series of such meetings, as planned by the organizers, will help to find interesting ideas to create new medical information services which may be developed in cooperation with the Department. The discussion of these proposals will help representatives from different areas of medicine and IT professionals to hear each other.
“My goal is to create here at the Department a competence center for digital medicine, which will unite everyone,” German Klimenko said after the meeting with the ideas authors. “There is no more fragmented industry than medicine. There are endocrinologists — they are on their own, urologists are in themselves too and so on. Medicine is a great field, but inside it there is no knowledge spillover. My goal is that they all come here and communicate with each other,“ the Presidential Adviser said.
Coming and giving one’s idea of a medical IT project in form of presentation or simply in form of conversation is not only a prerogative of students, postgraduates or employees of the First Moscow state medical University: this opportunity is open to students and staff of any other universities or institutions.
Anna Slobodenyuk, a 6th year student of MIPT, presented a draft project of an information resource for the rehabilitation of patients after stroke. The project can be of interest for the organization of telemedicine home care for stroke survivors. The idea has sparked the interest of the Department and has a chance to be implemented with the support of Sechenov University.
“This startup has good prospects,” German Klimenko noted, “because its main idea is in the use of a more efficient neural network, and many are moving in this direction today“.
Maxim Shaman, the candidate of medical sciences, came to the Presidential Adviser with the idea of another project. His idea is to create an information resource for management of medical services, which will include management of patient flows and interpretation of laboratory results.
“The fact that the adviser to the Russian President holds meetings with medical professionals and IT specialists at our Department is very important and significant,” said the head of the informational and Internet technologies Department of Sechenov University Georgy Lebedev. “First, it allows representing the Department as an important communication platform for developers of IT solutions in medicine and secondly, including in the educational process for future medical students of the new proposals designed to significantly facilitate the interaction between a doctor and a patient, to build practical solutions for telemedicine, to provide the ideology of introduction of telemedicine technologies in practical healthcare“, Georgy Lebedev emphasized.
A meeting between German Klimenko and vice-rector on medical work of Sechenov University Victor Fomin was held. They discussed the issues of joint implementation of scientific research projects in the field of digital medicine, including testing of innovative solutions in the clinical departments of the University. Victor Fomin noted that scientific, medical, information potential of the University can effectively solve complex and advanced tasks in the application of mathematical methods, artificial intelligence methods in medical practice, to extrapolate the experience for the rest of Russian healthcare system. The University is ready to participate in projects of image recognition, use of telemedicine technologies, and support of medical decision-making.
